Born and bred in the south of France, I always intended to stay close to my family and our farmland. Then one winter’s day, I stumbled upon Le Hameau de la Mûre.

And my life took an unexpected course. This place, the magnificent spaces, the history of its stones and the forests all around had a profound effect on me. I was left with no other choice but to move here.
A decision made not with my head but with my heart!
I was inspired by this stunning 85-hectare site to create a place for guests to stay in 18th-century buildings. And all the effort this implied! A real challenge.
I wanted to preserve the heart and soul of Le Hameau, so that in the midst of this remarkable heritage, guests would discover the art of hospitality and attentive but unobtrusive service. I’m writing the next chapter in the place’s history.
I want to share everything I’ve found here.
My home is a haven of peace. Everything is designed to make my guests feel at home, well taken care of and independent. Never far away, I am on hand to ensure guests are comfortable and relaxed. This site is an oasis of tranquillity. Come and read your book under a leafy oak, watch the chickens roam about, simply contemplate the valley, listen to the crackle of the fireplace, tuck into freshly baked chestnut cake still warm from the oven.
Nature at its most unspoilt, an authentic building, and calm and serenity everywhere you go...
All that’s missing is you.

History

Le Hameau de la Mûre
A home from home
since the 16th century

Le Hameau de la Mûre is an authentic 18th-century Ardéche estate nestled in the deep countryside. A collection of five cottages, the first stones were laid in the 1500s.

Three buildings are now reserved for our guests, connected by terraces and staircases, forming a harmonious place to stay you won’t find anywhere else.

Generations of history.
An authentic estate
Ardèche: vast and remote

Until the 1950s, Le Hameau was one big farm. A home to plenty of livestock.

Its terraced fields grew crops of mainly rye, wheat and potatoes. Below the current swimming pool was a chestnut grove.

The renovation
The preserved cachet
of traditional buildings

Extensive work was carried out on the premises, which had been abandoned for almost forty years, becoming dilapidated and overgrown. It took four years to bring them back to life. This revitalised heritage now inspires us to preserve the unique landscaped grounds of Le Hameau. The stone and wooden outbuildings have also been renovated to restore the former cachet of the traditional structures that make up this one-time farm.

Marie-Ange took the restoration to a whole new level when she bought the estate. She is committed to preserving the beauty of the site, and has brought new momentum into restoring the personality, authentic charm and vitality of the place.

The story
of Le Hameau’s restoration

Until the 1950s, Le Hameau was a large farm with herds of livestock. Its terraced fields grew crops of mainly rye, wheat and potatoes. Below the current swimming pool was a chestnut grove.

Abandoned for nearly 40 years, the roofs had caved in, the stone walls had begun to sag and the trees and brambles had claimed the place… New owners followed one after the other, but the extent of the work needed to bring this farmhouse back to life was greater than their determination.

It took four years to open some of the rooms and install the electrical, water and drainage networks, the staircases and the small squares not to mention redoing the roofs and the driveways and more.

A big thank you to Patricia and Olivier without whom this magical place would never have come to be.

Nestled on the Corniche de l’Eyrieux, at an altitude of 745 m and surrounded by 85 hectares of oak, pine, ash and chestnut trees, Le Hameau offers a setting that it wants everyone to come and experience.
The Eyrieux Valley offers a lush backdrop in every season. A protected area, it’s a place just made for relaxation and outdoor activities.

Le Hameau is a gateway to plenty of excursions and natural attractions. And just metres from the estate, there are signposted footpaths offering walkers the opportunity to ramble along the GR de Pays de Vernoux-en-Vivarais hiking trail.

Nearby, a host of sports, cultural and epicurean activities are a chance for guests to explore Ardèche in all its tranquil or more energetic beauty. During their stay, guests of our luxury rooms and gîtes can also enjoy free amenities (swimming pool, sauna).
